
2010 Cost Report Forms

Effective for cost report years beginning on or after May 1, 2010, hospitals will be required to use the new 2552-10 cost report form, published by CMS on December 30, 2010. Healthcare accounting consultant Brett Bateman will explain the major changes reflected in the new cost report, the potential impacts from these changes, and new information that hospitals may be required to provide. Significant changes include:
- Removal of obsolete lines, columns, and work-sheets
- Renumbering of forms
- New standard cost centers added
- New forms and standardized numbering for sub-providers
- New forms for Electronic Health Record (EHR) Incentive Payment Program activity
- S-10 completely revised and expanded; Additional disclosures required
