Clinical Co-Management Arrangements

In 2010, Congress passed the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act establishing several health care delivery system reforms intended to increase quality and reduce costs. In response, many health care systems have begun implementing clinical co-management arrangements ("CCMAs") to accomplish the physician alignment and integration required to achieve these goals. CCMAs provide an integration solution by incorporating physician leadership into cost management and quality oversight and by utilizing pay-for-performance incentives to improve the quality of clinical performance.
