James is the partner in charge of HORNE LLP's traditional accounting services of assurance, tax, business advisory and accounting, and fraud, forensic and litigation consulting. He oversees the vision and strategy, leadership, growth and overall performance of these practices areas. James also provides assurance and advisory services such as audits, merger and acquisitions, risk management/internal audit services, litigation support, and consulting to public and non-public enterprises. He serves on HORNE's technology committee and IT project review committee.
As a partner with HORNE from 2004-2007, James served as the director of assurance and SEC services and then returned to the firm in 2011. His career includes more than 20 years of diversified accounting experience, both in public accounting and in the private sector. Previously, he was a partner with two international accounting firms and has served as a chief financial officer, chief accounting officer and chief risk officer in the private sector.
James is a graduate of the University of Mississippi where he earned a Bachelor of Accountancy degree. He later graduated from the Paul W. Barret Jr. School of Banking and has spoken on a variety of accounting and related topics throughout his career. He is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in Tennessee.
